So I'm sitting here watching Snoop Dogg's Fatherhood (I don't know why I started watching it, and it's pretty apparently scripted, but Snoop is funny, so it's worthwhile), and every other commercial is for a movie called "How She Move", which I guess is a movie about "stepping". I've gotta wonder how stupid a person has to be to lap up this mindless drivel? This is the most formulaic of movies. Take an underprivileged lower class inner city youth that has aspirations of dancing/cheerleading/drumming/singing, and tell their story about their rise from the streets of Los Angeles/New York to gain acceptance through doing their activity at a high level. It is in this youth's struggle and success that the audience gains a warm feeling inside, no matter how cheap, and cliched it is.

Chance are, the people that are going to see this movie have also seen all the other movies that follow this exact same story arc. They are the stupidest sons of bitches on the planet. They are the same ones that buy "album by cute boys in a band" and "album by pretty young girl". There is a reason that the record companies and movie companies put out the same shit over and over again. It's because there are so many goddamn idiots that will buy the shit with their parents expendable income. This movie is going to be all the rage on Michigan State's campus in the very near future.

This would not be "grinding my gears" if it wasn't for the fact that the commercial is on so goddamn much during one of the five shows I actually like. It is no wonder that this is an MTV film. They have been suckering stupid kids into watching awful rubbish for 20 years.

On a more happy note, I have a laptop now. Thinkpad Z61t. It's great. I'm really digging it.

Edit: Seems there is another movie called "Step Up 2" coming out soon also. I can't even begin to describe how stupid this up (start with the '2')

Today is my last day at my current job. On one hand, I'm excited to be leaving, and for my new job. It's going to be a good challenge, and it should be enjoyable. On the other hand, there are a lot of good people here that I'm going to miss working with. My boss was easily the best boss I've ever had, and I've become friends with him. I will absolutely keep in touch with him and will still go to Camp Losey as often as I can.

I wrote a letter to the staff today thanking them for the opportunity to work here, and got a lot of nice responses from them. I'm pretty happy that I am valued by this place, and hope that at my new job, I am equally as valued. Some lyrics:

I am at work again, late. Every day since last Thursday, I have stayed late. To varying hours, from anywhere between 7:30p to 5a. Days are long. My mind wanders in and out of conciousness, seemingly only able to focus on the task at hand. One day blurs into the next. I'd love to go to sleep, but if I do, I wake up and go back to work. I haven't done anything with my free time lately because I haven't had any. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bitching. I love my job, I love being here. Besides my wife, I have everything I'd ever want here. Warm glow from my monitors and lamp, otherwise dark office. Music. Food. A few people who don't bother me. Work. Work. Work.

A good friend of mine passed away today. He had leukemia, and, after thinking thigns were going well, and having a bunch of drinks with him over the course of two nights, things went south.... the cancer spread to his lungs and lymphnodes, and before I knew it, he is gone. It's hard to even imagine what that is like, for him and his family, to die at such a young age. I know his fiancee, she was also a friend of mine. I don't know how anyone can deal with losing the love of their life. If my wife were to pass away, I don't know what I'd do..

Here's to you Chad, you were a hell of a guy. We had a bunch of good times together. I miss you already man. I'm glad I got to spend those few nights with you this past summer like it was older, better times. Everything seemed cool then, and those are things I take away from the short time that I knew you. There are about one million songs that you introduced me to that every time I hear them, I'll think of you. You're in a better place now. It's hard to even type this, and think it's real. It's very surreal to me at this point.....

So it's been a while, right?

I've done some re-design on the site, as far as the navigation goes. The drop downs were one of my huge problems with the site, and I fixed it. At first, I was unclear as to how to make the sidebar work with css. That is because I am a moron. It was an easy fix, and works well now, in my opinion. I also made some changes to the .htaccess file, allowing for some better looking direct links into individual posts. That should allow for some better indexing of the content by the search engines, and also, keywords will now point to the actual post they reference instead of just going to the default main index. After attending the Webmaster World Conference in Boston, I realized that moving away from query strings would be easy, and allows for pages to be much more indexable. On that same note, the conference provided alot of hints as to optimizing content for search ranking. I'll be working on that in the near future.

Things are getting better in IE. Not great, but better. Comments still don't work in IE. However, the page looks alot better now. Different theme / css there. Since imagemagick on my new server does not seem to recognize the channel RGBA (which makes NO sense), the newest title image is fucked up over there. I'll find a fix for that relatively easy I think.

Anyone that knows me knows of my love for the local baseball team, the Detroit Tigers. Well, they have been on a tear as of late, winning six straight and now being tied for first in the AL Central. This is pretty exciting, especially because of the first round exit by the Red Wings. I'd love to see the Tigers turn in a good season, and perhaps compete for a wild card spot. We'll see how it turns out, but my hopes are high right now.

The weather has been outstanding lately which means disc golf has been going on with some frequency. I currently stand at 3-5 for the season series with Seabass. I am, much like the Tigers, on a winning streak, though, winning the last three games. We found a beautiful course in Northville, which is relatively close to my residence. There is one majestic hole, where the tee is on top of a 150 ft hill, and the distance to the pin is 740ft. Teeing off from up there is just so beautiful, it feels as if you are throwing off the top of the world. This weekend, we have plans to play Kensington as well as perhaps playing Firefighter's park today.

So, it looks as if my site is coming to a close, which is not that big an issue. Shelby has let me know he can't host me for free anymore (which I understand), and this site is not worth me paying to host. I could throw it up on chirpy, but it's really not worth it, especially since that box is probably on numbered days now. It was fun, and the site taught me alot of shit about php, that's for sure. This is probably what got me my job, or at least, got my foot in the door. But since i'm not actively developing it now, it's not that interesting. The blogging idea was fun for a while, but it's slowly dying in my eyes, and the only thing about this site now that interests me is watching what keywords get here. Like Pregnant Fat Six.

Thanks to Shelby for all the free hosting, much appreciated. Hopefully his plans for the hosting shit work out. I can't see updating this again, for any particular reason. But who knows. The site will come down sometime late March or in April.

This past weekend was a blast. I had been looking forward to it for a while, as I had not only the Michigan Brewers Guild Winter Festival to go to, but a show in Grand Rapids as well. Me and my wife left home at 10:30a, and I met up with my dad in Old Town Lansing for the beer festival. Got inside right around noon, and started with New Holland's Black Tulip. Over the course of the next five hours, I tried many, many beers, some of which were awful , some of which were outstanding . Alot of awesome people there, including Jake , Jeff , JZ, Scott, Matt, the Royal Oak Brewery guy, and others. The band that played was top notch, perfect for a beer festival. Good fucking time.

After this, got a ride back to Grand Rapids with Paige (who had brought my dad to the beer festival), and hung out with Bass, Susan for a show at the Intersection. That was pretty decent, and the beer was flowing freely. Ended up at Vinnie's, Luke met us up there and recalled his tale from the previous night about a woman cop and a free ride home. Rode back home with Seabass and Sue, and pretty much did nothing the entire day yesterday. Good weekend, but I'm tired as hell now.

A special thanks to either Faith or Laine, whoever it was that had the song for my post today. I've been listening to it for days, and love it more and more with every listen. That song will make me revisit an album that I have written off for the last three years. I left them with a DVD of 60 albums, so I suppose it's a fair trade off.

Someone suggested I write in this (well, actually, a few someones), so I'm going to attempt to piece together a bunch of meaningless words and nonsense ideas. Firstly, I'd like to apologize for the advertisements on the site now. I'm putting them because I want to see what kind of ad's I'll get with them. Yesterday I had two ads about pregnancy and two ads about PVR-150's. Interesting combination there. This really all goes along with the absolutely insane keywords people have used to get to my site. I'd like to run something where it shows like the last 5 keywords used to get here, and I may eventually do that. However, I can't because..

I'm working on a new project with Shelby that is pretty interesting. Not going to say too much about it now, but it is actually a pretty decent idea. Will need people to test it at some point, but it's not really close to done just yet...

Work has been very busy, all the time. The web server conversion we were doing went fairly well, though there are still some minor issues to take care of. Those kinks will be worked out though, in due time.

The weekend of the 25th, I think I'm going to a Beer Festival in Lansing with my dad and uncle. That would be pretty fun I think and there will be alot of brewers there that I like immensely; the Black Tulip 2006 will also be there, and that's almost reason enough to go.

This is an absolutely uninteresting update. It's something I guess, but I lose interest in this blogging shit pretty quickly. If I'm not improving the code of the site, then I'm really not very interested in doing shit with it... the thoughts of "dropping off the face of the internet" are always there...

...but I know I can't. I've got absolutely nothing important to say right now, I just feel like I should update this for my adoring fans. Right.

Been screwing around with ajax a bit more, I have put some of it in place here, though I didn't write any of it, it's pretty cool. I enjoy it to some degree, but still have yet to see any _really_ practical applications, other than improved UI.

I put in a links section on the site (similar code to the code at TEH LBS, but better. Looks better, works better. Not much there yet, but I plan on putting stuff in there, mostly for my own personal benefit, so I can remember links.

This weekend, going to Lansing for Jake's birthday, heading to Stober's and then perhaps some party afterwards. I don't wanna see Chris though, I owe him $50 and don't want to pay him. Fucking Bears...

I really need to do an "About the site" page, and link it. It's clear that there is some things I need to say here about the code, and otherwise. I guess I could work on that today, along with making it so that some posts can have no comments.

Bored. I get my iPod back today. It can't come soon enough. I've had to listen to too many people. Plan on bring it back to the bar tomorrow, how it's missed teh drinkinz.

Here is the deal. To burn PS2 games, I need a particular kind of DVD. They work best for my system, and the games play flawlessly. These DVDs are not those that you can get in store, it seems, or at least, I've never seen them. So I generally order them from Newegg, which I did last Wednesday. I paid for 3 day shipping courtesy of UPS. It is now Wednesday of the next week, and this is the first day UPS has attempted to deliever said DVDs. I was at work, so I could not get them, and they didn't leave them here. I called UPS about this, and they told me that I could pick them up -- except the Newegg has prohibited this and any other delivery status change. This makes me just a tad angry, but I figure I can call Newegg and they will take care of this as they are always very accomodating to me. I call Newegg, and the first person I talk to tells me flat out there is nothing I can do. I ask her if, then, when no one is here to sign for the package tomorrow, and on Friday, the final delivery attempt, it will get shipped back to them. She tells me yes, and I will receive a refund. So she's of no help.

Because I worked in phone service in the past, I know what a pain in the ass it is when someone asks for your supervisor, but I felt I had no choice her. This royal BITCH on my fucking phone seemed to want to be as unhelpful as possible (very remiscent of my own style of call taking from back in the day). I talked to her supervisor who informed me that unless the package is at the "hub" (the last location before delivery), then there is nothing they can do as far as requesting a delivery status change. I advise HIM that the package is at the "hub", and that I'd like this request to be put through. At first, he seems to tell me that there is NO request they can make, but then tells me that they can make one, that the original representative should have told me that, and that she has since made the request. Ok, awesome, maybe I'll get these DVDs yet tonight.

I call UPS back as quick as possible to arrange for a pickup, wade through their awful computer driven menu with which you must actually speak (that's another rant for another day), and get a CSR there. I talk to her, as she is looking at this account, in real-time, and she advises that NO REQUEST has been put through for delivery status change. Wow, awesome, so like so many other phone bank workers and supervisors, the supervisor at Newegg told me whatever it took to get me off the phone (again, my style).

To sum this up, I will NEVER get these DVDs. I will be forced to order from some other company due to this. This policy is absolutely unacceptable and foolish, and is an inconvenience to anyone who works for a fucking living and is not sitting at home waiting for the precious Newegg shipment to get here. I'm sitting here, angry as all fucking hell now, because I have a bunch of PS2 games I want to play and not a single way to burn them and play them. I'm going to call Newegg again just to make sure they are aware that they have made me somewhat angry and that I will cease ordering from them (I know they don't give a shit, but I like swearing at people that have no ability to help me, people that don't care about my plight. If I can make someone else's day a little worse, I will be happier in the end). Fuck this.

I haven't posted in a long time, so I figured I'd update this morning while I had a second. I'm having a great time at my new job, learning alot, and doing alot. Busy all the time, working 9-11 hour days every day, but it's rewarding and not a problem coming in early at all.

My marriage is also going well, I love my wife, and am enjoying starting my new life with her. She's so wonderful to be around, and is such a caring person, it makes me wonder every day how I pulled something off like this.

That's all I got for now, I'm thinking of changing the look of this site soon, but I have another personal project I have to finish first. Me and Shelby are both working on it, and it should be done in the near future, I will post a link here once it is.

Ok, a few things. First, I posted two new photo sets in my gallery (neither of which is complete). One of my office and workplace, one of Mean Chase. Check them out.

Also, I would like to mention this if for the sole fact that it helps someone else googling this problem. I'm not totally sure of WHICH motherboards have this on them, but the motherboard of my work box has the Azalia Codec in it, set as enabled in the BIOS. Ubuntu was hanging on hotplug whenever I installed it. To get Ubuntu to work properly, you must disable this. From what I know this may or may not also disable sound all together, but since I have no speakers, I can not confirm that.

Ok, so it's been a while since I posted here.... in that time, I have gotten married, went to Jamaica and started my new job.... first, the wedding... thanks to those that read this that came out, your presence was welcomed and made me all the happier on that wonderful day.... I really enjoyed myself and each of you was at least a part of it...

Jamaica was awesome... ~85 degrees every day, and we got to fly first class for very cheap... We stayed at an all inclusive resort, so basically, I could drink whenever I wanted and not have to pay for it... Bourbon and water is going to be the death of me, let me tell ya...

Ok, I'd first like to say that alot of the time at Corecomm was pretty bad. It was hard to deal with alot of the managerial bullshit and bueracracy but I guess that's probably the way it is with alot of companies that are reasonably large. In any case, they paid the bills for me, for my three years here in the Lansing area.

I'd like to proceed to the people that I met here. Absolutely top notch, across the board. Some of the friendships I have made here will be life long, I think. From tech support to business services, it's been good for me, both personally, and professionally. The job has not taught me anything; I've learned everything I know from the people. Big time praise to those who have helped make these years in Lansing far better than I'd ever imagined they could be: Marissa , my fiancee and in a couple days, my wife. She's everything to me, makes me a better person. I am blessed and lucky to have her. Shelby , my first real friend in Lansing, we had alot of good times, happy he's gonna be back this weekend, both him and Emily. Both good people who had alot to do with making my time here more enjoyable. More recently, I have had great friends who have no only been there for me to hang out with, but have offered their homes to let me crash with them in the time I've been homeless: Jake , Dan , Adam , Dylan, Sam, Chris, Pink. All of you are the bomb, and I hope we can all get together and drink again on my return trips to Lansing, or your trips to the Detroit area. Then there are the others, those who I would consider friends, no matter what they consider me: Alia, Mona, Darin, Potter, Evan. All have been interesting and wonderful people to be around at various times in my time here in the big L.

I'm sad to leave this job, and this town, not because I have an overwhelming love for the job or the city, but because the people here are all friends and I absolutely cherish that.

A new chapter begins. Hopefully, it gets better from here...

So yesterday, Sunday, October 3rd, I drove back to Grand Rapids to go see Bear vs. Shark for the second time in a week. Originally, I was to go with Jake, but he misplaced his check and/or spent it on hookers named Bill. In any case, I ended up driving back there on my own, with no plans on who to go to the show with. Called up Luke, he ended up scraping together enough money to go. We went to Vinnie'ss, had some beers there. I hate going back to GR and NOT hitting Vinnie's, as it has become a homebase of sorts. For those that don't know, Vinnie's is the bar my dad was at when he got the call that my mom was going into labor with me. So it's a family sorta establishment. From Vinnie's, we went to the old favorite bar, Mulligans. I whipped some ass at pool with Mike, this kid Todd and Luke. Was a good time, put away some beers, and got out to the show.

Show was at the DAAC. We went to the door to ask who was on, BvS was next. The guy at the door told us to make sure to pay as they were watching everyone. Three minutes later, we both walked in for free, right past this idiot. Bear vs. Shark was awesome. Probably the most intense and energetic of the shows I've seen them play, even if the sound was awful (and it was). The lead singer was insane, doing alot of Iggy-like posing. He crawled through the crowd, He rolled around on the ground. He came back to us and put his arm around Luke and sang. Super intense and into the music, that dude is. As Luke put it, "He is an instrument in that band".

The fun began after this. We hit Vinnie's again for last call, had a beer. Then we went to Club North as they were the only bar we knew that was open. They now have about 12 pool tables there. We ran out of money for pool, but kept drinking, and played three ball with three cue balls from other tables (mind you, there is only one other table in use). As we are playing, Luke taps a ball on the table, someone at the tables next to us said not to do it. Of course, Luke did it again. The guy got mad and told us to leave. We weren't leaving and protested. He proceeded to grab our FULL pitcher of beer and dump it out, along with both our glasses. Turns out this guy is the owner. He asked us to leave, this is when I got involved in the argument. I can understand him getting mad about us not paying for pool (his claim that tapping the ball on the table will fuck it up is bullshit), but this nonsense with dumping our beer out was too much. I berated the motherfucker, he told us to leave. I told him to give my money back, and I'd be happy to leave his shitty bar. He said no, then he tried to muscle me out of the bar. This was humorous, the motherfucker wasn't moving me anywhere. He was a rotund fella, I could have taken him had it come to that. However, it didn't. He let off his headlock as I laughed in his face. One of the patrons at the bar gave me $10 that this fat bastard tried to take from me. Howerver, I put it in my pocket (thank you random girl, I'm glad you hated me enough to pay me to leave). The fat guy then proceeded to push me out, though I told him I was going to leave anyways as I had gotten my money back. See, fat guy, it's the principle of the thing.

Next time I go to GR, first place I hit up is Club North. I wanna have some more fun there.

Short update. These homeless days have been fine. Thanks to those that have helped out in this rough time... Dan and Matt, Jeff, Chris and Jake , the brothers Misenheimer and Sam, and also those that have offered a place to stay, CJ and Gene . The place to stay and people to drink with is much appreciated, believe me, and I hope to be able to pay the favor back with something.

Going to miss Cursive tonight in favor of celebrating the birthdays of Dan and Alia. Should be fun, bowling and hanging out with friends. I'm excited.

I turned in my math final recently. It's my last class ever if I pass it. If I don't pass it, I will go into some sort of living, breathing, walking coma, where I'm a shell of my former self. I can't even imagine another semester of school and it really doesn't fit into my future. It is all or nothing. I think I got it, but I don't want to get positive and have it ruin everything as it usually does.

To my credit, I worked harder on this class than I ever did on any other class. I just hope that it's enough.

Three shows last week (missed two). Flogging Molly was great. Planes Mistaken for Stars was good, but not great at all. We missed most of the show, and they had $3.50 Ice House (wow, is that too expensive). We didn't pay a cover though, so that made up for it I guess. Bear vs. Shark and Horse the Band were good, but FAR too crowded. It is also weird to be in Mac's during day light hours. Most of us didn't even know they had windows there, so it was a rude awakening to be at the bar, with the sun shining in your eyes. Freaked me out pretty bad.

My picture was in the paper with Marissa this weekend for the wedding announcement. I've had some well wishes from some people I know who saw it in there. Yeah, cool.

This is the week of good shows, Wednesday is Flogging Molly, Thursday is Planes Mistaken for Stars, Friday is Bear vs. Shark and HORSE the Band, Saturday is Fallopian Dudes. Needless to say, I will be at all of them unless something bad comes up (which I don't anticipate, though I'm sure I should)...

Life is pretty crappy right now... the only things going on are bad things... I'm just waiting for something good to come along... I hate whining here, I'm thinking of just dropping off the web for a while, getting rid of all this shit for a bit.... I'm not furthering the site at all, all I'm doing is posting.. it's boring... Wow, so it seems as if I haven't posted in a long time. The lack of internet makes me think I don't even have a website anymore, and honestly, that would probably be for the better. Since I'm not updating this shit, codewise, much anymore, I can't really see any point in keeping it around. Except that it seems people are commenting more now a days. Ok, whatever.

The Hard Lessons played in K-zoo last week, we all went there. Was an interesting trip. We actually got thrown out of the bar. Got to meet Shaft/Gage from the K-zoo office though, he bought me a beer and it was cool. Also met a few other new people, which is always fun (though I think I scared/upset at least one of the girls). The show was awesome though, the Hard Lessons put on an awesome show and I would recommend them to anyone.

Since my last update, I also saw some metal show at Mac's. Shortest time spent at Mac's ever. We were there literally 25 minutes. Enough time to drink 2 beers. Yuck, that show easily beats Gil Mantera for worst show of the summer (And I'm regretting not sticking around for the Party Dream as the shows seems to devolve into lunatic festivals).

I saw Diver play last night. Good show. $0.50 PBRs as well, and this is after pre-drinking with Adam , Dylan and Jake . Was a good time had by all, especially laughing at the drunk girl that was there dancing. Even Diver thought she was stupid.

I'm quitting smoking right now. It's going good for the most part.

I'm thinking of registering a new domain, but I have no ideas what to do with it. If you have any, put them here and I will take them into consideration. I really am at a loss as to what would be good, interesting, or fun for the internet these days.

I would also like to state, for the record, that Jake is a jackass. He is the one who directed us to go to Gil Mantera's Party Dream at Mac's, which was perhaps one of the worst shows I've ever seen. We actually had to walk out of it. Jake, this brick in the face is for you.

I think I have alot to say, but we'll see how it ends up..

Firstly, the weekend... Friday night, had to pick Marissa up at the airport... got hassled by a cop who told me he'd ticket me until I was "unable to drive anymore"... great... soured the entire night... Saturday, went home to Grand Rapids to see family, hung with them until Sunday afternoon where we had lunch with dad... was nice, I love my dad! On the drive home, me and Marissa got in an accident on 96. We went to the Sheriff's office, they chalked it up as a hit and run, which pretty much puts the fault on the other guy. Good deal. Work today was fine, boring as usual..

I finished a book last week, A Widow for One Year by John Irving. It came at the recommendation of Emily who gave it to me so I'd have something to read on a Greyhound bus. I read all of it, completing about 400 pages in 3 days, and I totally dug it. Something I really like about totally tragic storytelling. The first part of the book, especially, was quite interesting and terribly sad. The other two parts, while not as good, were still very well written and interesting, and I was almost brought to tears at the end of the book.. Good stuff. I'm taking suggestions as for what to read next.

I also just finished watching the movie Primer, which came at the recommendation of Dylan... very interesting movie about invention, time travel and it's effects on your surroundings... I am going to have to watch it again as alot of it is hard to understand, especially stop starting it at work so as not to miss anything during calls... however, it was good enough, from what I got, to warrant another viewing...

Some current albums that I'm currently listening to are both of the Bear vs. Shark full lengths, the Minutemen's Double Nickels on the Dime, and Enon - Believe.... all really interesting and refreshing to me..

Last but not least, I would like to congratulate two people on acquiring new employment. I will not name them here, but they both know who they are...

That's RIGHT! Finally, after a week without it, my iPod is back. I can't wait to start loading music on it. And Apple did a great job. No charge for anything, not even to ship it to them. Very impressed with the service I have received. And it's a BRAND NEW iPod too...

What a fucking crazy weekend. Friday night, took a bus to Detroit, and met up with Seabass. We went back to his place, had some beers, went out and played some disc golf at this fucking LAME ass course (9 baskets for 18 holes does NOT make for a good game). Went back to his house again, had some more beers, and left for Alvin's to see Streetlight Manifesto . We were meeting up with my dad, little sister Faith, Vicente, and, much to my surprise, his fiancee Wendy. It's pretty sweet he's getting married, she seems like a good girl. I would like to say that Alvin's was hotter than any show I've ever been to, even the Streetlight show in Toledo. They weren't allowing people to step outside, so to keep cool, we drank those wonderful $2.50 PBR's they had there. Alot of them. Show was awesome, they dedicated a song to me, and we drank with the band after the show.

Saturday started awful, waking up at Seabass house and wanting to die. Got in the car after some outstanding Wendy's chicken nuggets, and drove to Grand Rapids. Surprisingly, our loud voices woke Deke up, and we got to playing some disc golf shortly after hitting up Spinski's for a new putter. First, Old Farm, where I won. Seabass lost. I laughed. Then Riverside. I got second. Deke lost. I laughed. Went to Fat Boy, and then Vinnies, then back to Riverside. I quit after 9, and good thing, cuz Luke ended up losing three discs in the back nine. I laughed alot at that. Went back to Deke's, showered up, played some foos and had a few beers. Drove back to Detroit at about 4am, and was dropped off at Marissa's apartment. She wasn't happy to see me that early, but I did at least get her to open the door so I could hit the pillow and get a few hours sleep before I took her to the airport to go to Chicago for a week of work training. I pick her up again on Friday.

Last night, went to Enon at Mac's after hanging out with Dylan, Adam, Mona and others over at their place before the show. Show was good, talked to Sam from Wanderjahr for a while, dude knows his shit when it comes to music, and it was a pleasant conversation. Unfortunately, I now sit at work, tired and mad I'm here. This day couldn't go fast enough.

So it seems I've fucked shit up on many levels tonight... first, I deleted Sean's database for his blog... totally accidental while trying to get some gallery stuff for him to work... granted, I got a cached version of all his posts, but it still seems that it is in bad shape... I feel pretty damn bad about it, as if I lost all my posts, I'd be broken up...

Secondly, while taking pictures with my digital camera, it stopped working... the batteries MAY be dead, but it seems that I have to hold down the battery door on the camera to even get it to turn on.... my parents want to buy me something in the $700 range for graduation... maybe a digital camera and a graphics card are in order... that would be pretty fun stuff to fuck around with, I think..

Work starts again tomorrow... oh, what fun it shall be...

So it's the weekend. 12:30am. I'll be at my fiance's dad's house all weekend. It's nice up here, two lakes, boat, beer, good food, etc. I am missing the Social Distortion concert tomorrow, which is a bit upsetting, but hopefully, they'll come around again before I die.

I'm glad I don't have to go to work tomorrow. Working 10-6 really makes me appreciate the time that I don't have to go to work. Nice to be able to spend it with Marissa as well.

Got all the grades I needed in school this past semester. One more class this summer, and it's all over. Not a moment too soon.

So it looks like if I don't get my haircut soon, then I need to grow up. How you equate not getting a hair cut with being immature is beyond me. That's the same sorta logic you use when you say "Since my computer is on, I need to eat a banana"... I wish I could make sense of this, but honestly, what's the point? It's not like this type of logic applies anywhere in life but in this exact situation.

I start 10-6 at work next week. It's nice cuz I'm out in time to play disc golf. It sucks cuz I have to get up early. Oh well, it's still a paycheck.

One week till Star Wars.... that same weekend, I have a Good Life show in Grand Rapids, and then Emily turns 21 on Sunday, having a formal party. I'll wear a tie, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna take my flip flops off...

So here's what I'm getting so far... I'm happy with it, regardless what others think of it..

I know no Spanish, and got a 3.0. That's good.

I went to a total of 5 IAH classes, the first day, and four tests. I didn't buy the book. And I got a 3.0. That class meant alot to me.

The math class was hard. Capstone is really tough shit and I worked my ass off in there. I earned that grade.

The final I have in a few short hours here is going to be hard. I will probably do bad. We'll see though. More later.

Snakes on a Plane is a new movie coming out from Newline Cinema. It is written by some dudes with massive cred. One of the writers only previous work in film was a website for a movie. One wrote the screenplay for the movie Eddie starring Whoopie Goldberg. Yeah, this should be good.

So I guess that the cops got a little surly down in EL this past weekend with the tear gas... Shelby got gassed, and also had his picture taken with two cops in riot gear... all for doing NOTHING... man, I understand they were worried about some shit going down, due to past events, but come on.... gassing a group of five kids walking down the street is not preventing a riot...

I had to go to a wedding class... needless to say, it was pretty damn awful... and my girl has the gall to ask me why I looked like I was mad the entire time I was there... HA!

Shelby did a stylesheet (though half assed), it's #4 on the styleswitcher... I'm gonna have to fix it up.. other than the spacing issues on the right side, it looks alright, though...

Ok, so I had high expectations going into this, so much so that I downloaded 4 EP's or full lengths from this band last night.... and I was esepcially excited for this one as it had my favorite song by them I'd heard thus far, "Sink, Florida, Sink"..... often times, you'll find that an album with one track you like contains other tracks in the same vein, or sounding similar..... little did I know I was in for a shock here...

I listened to this album from start to finish, and while I do enjoy some of the songs, it's not as good as I had hoped it would be... it was sorta slow, but not in a good way... I probably need to give it a few more listens, but I'm not sure i'll even be able to do THAT! And, the song I knew I liked, they made it slower, and not nearly as pleasureable to the ears as the what must have been a demo version that I heard before....

On to the next album, which is Tori Amos - The Beekeeper... I don't even know why I'm listening to this, and it's a good chance I won't even get all the way through it...

A few music notes:

First, Bono is nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Not only that, but this is actually his SECOND nomination. The only way I could possibly see him winning this award is if U2 agrees to stop making albums, FOREVER.

Secondly, Green Day is touring, and they are charing upwards of $30 for tickets. What is this all about anyways? I mean, I saw them live a few times, and the show was pretty decent. However, it's not worth that. And since their new album is pretty fucking bad, I can't see any point to seeing this. Have fun Deke, et al.

Shelby got my hopes up today by telling me Korn broke up. However, only one guy left the band. Fuck fuck fuck. It's only a matter of time before that band realizes that the trend it started has come to a screeching halt. It's all over, you silly motherfuckers.

Development has stopped on O2 for now. I lost the will to work on it due to school being a huge annoyance (even more so then usual). I have massive amounts of homework right now, and it's really not all easy homework, like I wish it was. Math still rules though.

I think I'm pretty much set with the iPod thingy... having to use windows or mac to update the db on the iPod is stupid, and I wish Apple would just make iTunes for Linux. I mean, MacOS is built on Unix. It can't be that hard to import the program to Linux, with all those supposed "brilliant people" they have over there. Sheesh....

I really think that is it for now. I'm just waiting for the second Will Christopher Baer book to come in the mail. Got it, and the Contortionists Handbook for $20. Will update on that when I've read them. Expecting some good new music here shortly as well.

I wrote a little php script that updates an itunesDB, and then parses it out and puts the stuff into an sql db... so then i can manipulate it from there....

I like it.... the more fun little projects you can do like that, the better..

I'm sitting at work, really damn bored... I don't even know what to do with myself right now... I'm sick of Quake2 (yes, I DO still play it), I'm at a standstill as far as coding goes, I really don't have any ideas... I know there is alot more to it, but with the part I am working on now, I just got nothing in my brain that seems to need adding....

I have an overwhelming urge to write something, but I don't think I have it.. I'm far too self critical to write, most of the time, as I don't usually like what I've written in the end... there are very few things I've created, literary or otherwise, that I consider to be worthwhile, or that I am proud of....

Life is dragging again.. but, on the upside, I have a project right now that I am actually interested in... it addresses some of the MANY flaws that are in this site currently... the word is "customization".... it's gonna be alot better then this... still lots and lots of work to do, but it's definitely getting there....

Updated the gallery quite a bit, implementing Nice Titles, and fixing it up. Added a bunch of custom values to the img tags, so that more info could be displayed.

Also, fixed the database so that uploaded date is now tracked. Uploaded date for all the previous images have also been added, and look to be fairly accurate.

I got a new box. Found it outside in the trash at work. Plug it in, it boots up. Has one bad drive. The best part is, it's a dual processor motherboard with Ultra SCSI on board, two working 18.3 gig drives inside. Installed XP on it today so I can run iTunes again. However, the USB controller is reading bad, so I'm going to get a PCI-USB card for it. It's pretty nice box, a bit loud, and chirpy at times, but all in all, the price was right...

Today, I wrote a script that mounts the ipod, parses out RSS information, makes a text file for each site, then copies it to the ipod, and unmounts the ipod.

Well, after receiving something that made it necessary to get USB working on my Linux box, I figured I'd do it, and it was actually quite easy. Since the device I was trying to use was a FAT32 formatted device, I ran:

fdisk -l

which displayed all the connected FAT* filesystems connected. I then found which device this item was on, and mounted it accordingly. Am now able to access it just fine. Rock Rock! In addition to getting that working, I also got my camera working. However, hotplug does NOT seem to want to do anything, but I guess that's ok, I can reboot when I need to use these devices. As a matter of fact, I very rarely reboot anyways, so as long as I boot with them plugged in, I can use them after unplugging them and plugging them back in later. Rock!

So I finally got this little color change on the fly thing working. Thanks to Shelby for finding that little piece of info. Woot! Implementing it site wide, however, will be a problem I think. But I'll get to that if i can.

The server was down for a while. Thankfully, it's back up now, with the help of Justin (well, mostly all Justin's work, he seems to be a genius).

That's all I got right now. Semester is over, I'm looking to get alot of work done on this and/or other sites, as I'll have lots of free time.

Thanksgiving is now over for me, after three dinners in three days, I'm pretty damn sick of Turkey. But I've had a blast over the past three days, spending the time with my lady and what not. Really great times.

The time at my parent's house was the best, I love my family so much. They are awesome people to be around, and it's always some kind of emotional high when I'm there. My little sisters are fucking awesome. Too bad Faith failed her driving test. I promised not to laugh. I lied. :-)

I'm sitting at my girlfriends house now, drinking a Taddy Porter. It's good. I also went to the mall today, and we looked at rings, I bought two shirts (one of them a pink button up) and a bracelet, to add to my growing collection of bracelets. If you feel like giving me something for Christmas, that's what I want.

I don't have much else to say now. When I finish these beers, I may post again, as that should be fairly funny.

Added a few new things to the site tonight. First, is the archiving of posts at the bottom. That's something that's sorta been done for a while, but not accessible to the public, and not really that great either. So yeah, that's that.

My fifth anniversary with Marissa is this weekend. I can't believe we've made it that far. I'll admit, it hasn't been easy alot of the time, but we've worked it out. It means alot to me to be with her, and that she has stuck with me all this time. I'm happy that we're still together, and I hope that we will be for good. I can't imagine being with someone else. It would be really too weird and uncomfortable.

I got a box at work now. P3 1Ghz, running Debian with Gnome. Gnome looks really tight the way I have it set up. Sure, you may think it's gay, but it's inspired both by my bracelet, and the fabulous Thomas Pink shirts. I named it Pink, the layout is Pink, etc. Really classy looking. I love setting up a new machine. Now my windows box at work has been relegated to running IRC. And playing Quake 2. It's almost too much for a P4 2.4ghz to do.

My attitude about work has totally changed now. My new job is such that I feel important, like my skills are actually valued. No offense to the bosses upstairs, as I think most of them are great people, but the morale up there stinks, and you have to look to those in charge when something like that is happening. I still talk to quite a few techs from upstairs, both old and new, and I hear the same things, about how the call volume is shitty, and the pay is bad. In the industry, as a whole, the pay is not great there, especially for the amount of responsibility that those techs have to deal with. If it was just internet, fine, I can see the wages being justified, but if you add residential and business phone service as well as the sales requirements, it's alot to handle, esepcially for those that are doing it as a part time job to pay their way through school. It's quite stressful at times, and I'm happy to be in a different department, but I still feel bad for those that are there, and hope that things change. I'll always be for the working man, the lowly, mistreated ones. Big corporations suck.

Well, after that, I should go study now. School is becoming more and more burdensome as it goes on, and I'm doing pretty bad. I've got alot on my mind these days.

Ahh, another weekend in Grand Rapids... always a good time here....

Friday night, Shelby and Emily came through here, hung out with me and the Deke, we hit up Mulligan's, and hung out at Luke's as well... was a fun time...

Last night, me and Luke hung out and played a shit ton of Soul Caliber 2... and I mean a BUNCH of it.... I love that game, it's even better than the original and the original is a great fucking game..

Time to go home today, it's Halloween, I have mad amounts of homework to do too... grrr...

I got the promotion at work. Yipps! Im excited for that as its almost like an entirely different place, working down there. I start Monday. Yes!

Ill miss my desk in the corner upstairs and the people that sit on either side of me as well. Oh well though, its more then worth it to go down there.

The rest of the weekend went good. Went home to watch the Lions whip the Giants ass. Man, they looked good today. It's funny how good they can be sometimes, and then sometimes, they can play like they did last week against Green Bay... whoa, that was terrible. But a 4-2 Lions team after 6 games is not what I expected.

Damaged by Black Flag is a great album. I should put the track Damaged I online for people to download. You'll get it then.

It's Saturday night now, and I've already done more in a weekend then I normally do in a week. Went to a wedding shower last night with my girl, was actually ok. Good food, free beer, etc. We weren't there long though as we had to jet to Detroit to see a show (The Good Life w/ Neva Dinova). Got there early enough to see most of Neva's set, and it was pretty decent. I've only heard the stuff they do on the split with Bright Eyes, so it was nice to hear some more. They say they have a new album coming out in January, I'll be checking that out for sure.

The Good Life was next, and though I knew they'd never match up to the last performance I saw them at, at Schuba's in Chicago, it was still a really good show. Tim Kasher, the lead singer, grew this really nice handlebar mustache. I was impressed. They played for a little over an hour, which is about 35-40 minutes short of what they did in Chicago, but they played some tracks I've never heard them play live (some new, some old), so that was really nice.

After the show, went back to my girl's place where she made me breakfast in bed. Was too sweet. Came back here to go to a wedding, and the ceremony lasted about 15 minutes. Real nice. However, the bar at the reception was NOT free, so that put a damper on that. Oh well, can't win em all.

Watched Supersize Me tonight, very interesting, though not unexpected. Eat thirty days of McDonalds, of course it's gonna fuck you up. However, the level to which it fucked him up is astonishing.

Tomorrow, going home to see my family, dad in particular. He got home from the hospital a mere 18 hours after surgery, which is great to hear. I'm excited to watch the game with him, and see my family in general, as it's been quite a while since I've been home.

That's all for now. Life seems good right now, which is an odd change of moods for me. That's ok though. I can deal with this happiness shit for a while, anyways...

Spent the weekend with my lady. Was great. I love her so much, more and more every time I see her. And I get to see her again this weekend, for a wedding, a wedding shower, and a show. Woot!

All is not well though. This week is a trying one for me and my family, but hopefully, everything will go well. If you know me, then keep my family in your prayers.

I'm really angry right now. For no reason. I just listened to 55 minutes of Henry Rollins' spoken word on the days with Black Flag... man, I missed out on that shit. What a great time that was. It seems I'm never looking for a fight, but always ready for one. I just walked to the store, and the entire way, I was thinking what I'd do if someone jumped me or something. Mmm... I'd almost like that, even if I did get my ass beat.

Wow, I haven't even really realized just how shitty I feel lately until today. Stopping drinking for a few days will do that to you I suppose. I miss Marissa to death, I want her to come home, or I wanna move there. This city is so empty to me now that she's gone. Sure, I have some friends, but that really doesn't make up for it. She's really all I'll have in the end. When she leaves me, and I promise you, she will leave me, it's gonna fuck my life up pretty damn bad I think.

This weekend could go one of two ways. I guess I'll be sorta happy with either way, and sorta pissed. Either way, I'm going to miss out on something that I want. It's always like that. I could choose to look at things positively, if I was actually able to EVER do that. But I'm pretty pessimistic, so it's hard for me to look at things that way, regardless of if I want to or not.

I've really got nothing else to say. Thankfully, a few people are willing to listen to me gripe every so often. Good friends, for sure. I cherish them to no end, and will until they get sick of me too, and get sick of all the shit that goes on in my head.

I've updated alot lately. I guess I have alot to say. I don't know what it is, but I feel almost philisophical these days, which is about as far from myself as I can get. I'm honestly most likely going crazy. I miss Marissa so much, I have no connection with anyone here. It's all very shallow in most cases. There are some cool people here, no doubt, but I miss Marissa, and I miss Grand Rapids.... it's funny I'm saying this now, as I've been here over two years now, but it's just the way I am right now...

It's very lonely here in Lansing at times. I don't go out of my way to meet anyone, of course, as I am typically anti-social by nature. It's really my own fault, when you get down to it, and though I hate feeling like this, I'm not compelled to do anything about it.

This is a fucking joke, this blog. I write in it for myself, of course, but honestly, if i was smart, it'd be a parody of all the people that are blogging these days with nothing to say. But instead, I'm doing exactly that: talking about shit you don't care about and have no business knowing.

I have this overwhelming need to be creative, but have nothing to create. I'm not skilled enough for anything but coding, and coding is so black and white. It's not like creating something artistic or anything like that (especially not my code - HA!), it's just a bunch of text. Boring.

Had one class so far, Numerical Analysis... was pleased to hear that 40% of the grade is based on work done in either FORTRAN, C++, or Mathematica... obviously, I will be doing the work in C++... haven't coded in that in a while, so that should be interesting and exciting...

I've got an hour and a half between my first class and second class, so I'll have time to kill every MWF... so if you are bored, IM me or something, I'll be vnc'ed into my machine at home..

Been gone for a while.... a long while... I almost forgot about this site for a minute....

Interesting times since the last time I posted here... and that's the thing, I have no urge to talk about them online.... it makes the whole blog idea sorta pointless if you don't actually say anything that anyone gives a damn about....

On the coding scene is absolutely nothing.... the leagueonline project fell apart because of some issues with the games it was to track (both Madden and ESPN2k5 have online league support built in).... and other then that, no coding whatsoever.... I'm waiting on something at the place I work at now, would be nice, I'm super pumped, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up....
Bad news since the last time I posted as well.. the people close to me know what I'm talking about and are praying about it (those people that are close to me are the only ones that read this site, so really, I should just outright say it...)

Hmm... I moved too.. yeah.. .new internet connection.. download is better.. upload is much, much worse... goodbye littleorange.. it's a shame, that box now holds Windows XP in it's inards.... whereas my main desktop machine is now running Debian.... the conversion went smoothly, and so far, I have had no problems doing anything I used to do on Windows, with a few minor kinks... I now see no reason to ever use windows on my main machine... sure, you can't play games on Linux (well, you can't play all games), but shit, with performance this well as a day-to-day, desktop OS, I have to use it....I'm enjoying the relearning of all the things that make Linux better then Windows.... All I have to do is look at Gkrellm, telling me that I have 380mb of my 512 free, and I'm happy.... I can also play 15 copies of a 1.4gb quicktime file with no slowdown in any of them.. sorta funny.. i can watch 6 episodes of the simpsons, and six of seinfeld at the same time....

I saw Streetlight Manifesto twice in the past week, and I've got to say, they put on one hell of a show. I got to meet a bunch of the guys, and hang out with them, especially Josh and Mike... they also gave a shoutout to me at the Grand Rapids show, which was fucking cool as all hell... the Grand Rapids show was much better as the crowd was more live, and the venue was much smaller, which made it that much better...

I continue to miss Marissa... it sucks badly, I really hate that she's gone... it'll be weeks before I see her again... oh well, I'm sure I'll make it...

OrangeCMS is becoming a burdensome project to me. It's something I started when I didn't know much about PHP, but I know alot more now. I'm thinking of a total rewrite.
